Devon Homelessness Law Training Conference

This conference took place on the 1st December 2006, and was organised for housing staff working for Devon Local Authorities. The objective of the conference is to get as many staff as possible together and receiving the same message about delivering housing advice and homelessness services. This objective is clearly linked to the consistency objective of the Devon Strategic Housing Goup.

The content of and programme for the day has been developed with the Devon Homelessness Managers Group to ensure that it is relevant to the issues we are all facing today in Devon.

The event was a huge success with staff enjoying the opportunity to meet with other authorites across Devon and discuss different ways of working. It has been suggested that a Devonwide Conference for housing advice and homelessness staff becomes an annual event.

The general comments about the conference from the evaluation exercise included

  • Excellent day. Some very interesting points raised;

  • Excellent day, thank you;

  • Excellent. Very informative, pitched at just the right level;

  • It has been very interesting and useful to get all officers from Devon together to share and consider good practice – would it be useful to have an annual Housing Advice and Homelessness Conference for Devon?

  • Should be compulsory for all officers!!
